BANNED AT CARLISLE BARRACKS
By MAJ GLENN MacDONALD, USAR (Ret)
In show business, the old adage is: "Banned in Boston means a big hit on Broadway!" With 40,000 "hits" since July 20, some 46 foreign countries logged on to our web site, and more invitations to do talk shows than there are hours in the day, maybe we should THANK some of the brass at Carlisle Barracks, Pa. for being the first military installation in the United States to forbid their officers and civilian workers from reading MilitaryCorruption.com.
The powerful new web site has been banned from all computers on post. That means when military or civilian employees "click on" to the site, up pops a message they have performed an ILLEGAL operation. Apparently the idiot who gave this order is unaware the 1st Amendment to the United States Constitution has NOT been repealed! Also that this is still the U.S. A., not North Korea!
We find it hard to believe an outstanding officer such as Maj. Gen. Robert R. Ivany, newly-arrived commandant at Carlisle Barracks, knows anything about this (see "Open Letter" on Home Page). Probably "underlings" took it upon themselves to "ban" our web site without the general's knowledge or approval.
Our site is proud to have for Chairman of the Board, Brig. Gen. Peter Genovese, USAR (Ret) who just so happens to be a GRADUATE of the U.S. Army War College at Carlisle Barracks. The editor-in-chief, this writer, served there on six Active Duty tours during a period of years and contributed thousands of dollars worth of Vietnam War materials to the Military History Institute at the Barracks.
Our editorial staff is entirely composed of combat veterans. Four of them served in Vietnam and Cambodia as accredited civilian war correspondents. Where do these "desk jockeys" at Carlisle Barracks get off trying to CENSOR the truth? Our motto at MilitaryCorruption.com is: "FIGHTING FOR THE TRUTH . . . EXPOSING THE CORRUPT." And that is exactly what we shall continue to do.
We are not anti-military. We are very much pro-military. We want to strengthen our armed forces by rooting out the corrupt and criminal element within. We are not some wild-eyed "right-wing" militia outfit, or a bunch of "crazed" religious cultists. Our site does not violate "national security" and we do not commit "libel." We deal in FACTS, no matter how unpleasant or embarrassing they may be! And we are not pornographic.
Speaking of pornography, why is it, as reported to us by one of our many "CI's" - confidential informants on post - one of the individuals involved in trying to censor us feels it's OK to prevent criticism of the brass hats, but just fine to watch PORNO on his computer on post during duty hours while a female is in the room? Guess you didn't see her looking over your shoulder, huh, pal?
Is telling the troops the truth "verboten," while "Teen Aged Nymphos" is not blocked from Carlisle Barracks computers? Why is there unfettered access to this "smut?" How many officers on post are looking at it regularly? Seems like a job for the CID, checking the hard drives and all those computer records. That would give them something useful to do, for a change.
Can anyone spell H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-C-Y? Or, perhaps more appropriate, how about T-R-O-U-B-L-E?
Those responsible for this unwarranted censorship are on notice, effective right now! Remove the ban on our site, or we will start headlining all the "dirt" and "scandal" on your post. God knows we have plenty from other places on our plate, but for you, we'll "make room."
There won't be a thing you can do to stop us because YOU know
that WE know all that's been done and the attempts at
Just so you realize we mean business, here's the "first installment."
A former employee of the state Job Center at Carlisle, Pa., Rae White, is pursuing a complaint, through the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, against a top civilian administrator at Carlisle Barracks.
This highly respected worker, who has helped many men and women transition from the military to civilian life, claims Ron Meier, director of the post's Directorate of Community Activities, sexually harassed her repeatedly in early 1999.
According to Marcus McKnight, White's attorney, "Meier came in to where she was working and made inappropriate comments about her body."
Meier, a particular favorite of past Commandants, Lt. Gen. Richard J. Chilcoat and newly-unemployed Maj. Gen. Robert Scales (Ret), denies all the allegations, according to his attorney, Jeff McGuire.
McGuire told the Harrisburg "Patriot-News" newspaper a "full investigation" conducted by military officials on base "cleared" his client of any "impropriety."
WHY ARE WE NOT SURPRISED?
Another former Barracks employee, Barbara Vanner, whose claims Meier sexually harassed her first became public in the Harrisburg newspaper in 1997, is still pressing a federal complaint against him.
MilitaryCorruption.com has obtained the names of two more women who were allegedly harassed by Meier. Both no longer work at the Barracks.
In this age of "political correctness" and an increased "feminist awareness" by the Clinton administration, isn't it odd that Secretary of Defense William Cohen and the past two commandants at Carlisle Barracks have not moved more swiftly to deal with problems such as this?
THIS IS NOT A CASE OF "HE-SAID, SHE-SAID" WHICH SO OFTEN IS USED TO DESTROY AN OFFICER'S CAREER. THERE IS NO LYING, DECEITFUL FEMALE ENLISTED MEMBER WITH A PERSONAL AGENDA WHO LATER IS EXPOSED AS MAKING FALSE CHARGES AGAINST OTHER OFFICERS AND IS REGARDED BY HER FORMER UNIT NCOIC AS HAVING A SERIOUS PROBLEM TELLING THE TRUTH.
No, these are good and decent women, who contend they were actually "sexually-harassed" by a top official at Carlisle Barracks. And they are NOT happy with the less-than-understanding treatment they received at the hands of the brass.
In fact, White was not only banished from the Barracks at one point (AFTER making her charges) but she was subjected to further indignities, which should have cost the garrison commander at the time and deputy commandant their jobs!
As is her right, White asked for a formal investigation, known as a 15-6, be conducted based on her allegations. It was. But get this! When White tried to find out the result, she not only wasn't told what the resolution of the case was, but she was informed she would have to PAY first $255 and later $155 for "photocopying" costs before the Barracks would let her see the result of the investigation!
In other words, White was "victimized" again by the people she sought help from!
Obviously, this was a crude attempt to "demoralize" this woman and make her "go away."
It is reprehensible that Rae White was treated so shabbily when
she sought to obtain the 15-6 results. Therefore, we at MilitaryCorruption.com
DEMAND that the injustice done to White be corrected and her attorney be provided
with a complete copy of the 15-6 at no charge! We find it to be extremely offensive
and a violation all over again of this good woman that she
was subjected to such callous disregard by brass hats who should know better. Are you reading this, "Chuckie?"
