Our well-honed bullshit detector went off the minute we saw the charge sheet against former wonder boy, Air Force Col. John Howard. It said he had been accused of “rubbing his groin” against the body of a female airman under his command at Mildenhall RAF base in the United Kingdom. That was in 2016.
In July 2017, Howard, who has more ribbons on his chest than a South American dictator, a super-achiever senior officer, became commanding officer of the 375th Air Mobility Wing at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. 18th Air Force commander, Lt. Gen. Giovanni Tuck, pulled the trigger on him in December and Howard has been in a virtual living hell ever since.
The 1999 Tufts University in Boston grad majored in math and was always the top of his class had a storybook career – up until now. With Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand and the Me-Too movement on the war path, Air Force brass are eager to shoot down and sacrifice one of their own in order to make themselves look good.
MCC HAS NO LOVE FOR BRASS HATS
We could never be mistaken for fans of the top brass. Our relationship with Pentagon big shots is akin to that of a cobra vs mongoose. If we thought Howard was a Bill Clinton-type horn-dog and had actually been “cruel” and really “sexually assaulted” the unnamed senior airman, we’d pound him hard.
But the facts of the case, at least as far as we know them by press time (see related story below), are few and far between. What we have been able to ascertain is this: the colonel is “alleged” to have rubbed his dick up against the “victim.” In other words, he didn’t even take it out. Hmmmm.
There are no witnesses to the alleged “cruelty” and “sexual assault,” so we are forced to try and figure out who is lying here and why. We’ve studied Howard’s service record and can find no other infraction or crime to mar his reputation. In fact, the Air Force itself, through it’s public affairs office at Scott AFB, did a real big “puff piece” on the colonel when he arrived there from England in July 2017.
Pictured in the article was Howard and his retired Air Force colonel wife. Why, even the family dogs got in the picture! In retrospect, perhaps the 0-6 should have retired then and run for political office. If he was a Democrat, instead of Republican, the fake news media could have boosted his campaign, hoping to con active duty, retired, and reserve “blue suiters” into voting for him for political office. But, we digress.
A “RUSH TO JUDGEMENT”
Anyway, we always have been leery of these “she said/he said” cases, because when there’s no prior record and no witnesses to the alleged “crime,” we are not ready to destroy someone’s life and career just because it has become politically expedient to do so.
Remember Madame Defarge in the TALE OF TWO CITIES? She sat beside the guillotine, doing her knitting, and screamed “Off with their heads.” The blood-thirsty old crone (some historians suspect she was a man-hating bull dyke) wasn’t interested in justice or due process.
As our BS detector is still sounding, we can only hope Howard gets a fair trial and, if his accuser is lying, she should be separated from the service pronto. “An accusation these days is as good as a conviction,” a wary officer told us last week. He is so right. He takes the precaution of never being alone with ANY female other than his wife. Sound paranoid? No. Just reasonably cautious. We’re living in that kind of time. Better to be safe than sorry.
