The axe has fallen for the fourth time so far this year. Navy CMDR Jeffrey Wissel is the latest Naval officer to get the boot.
Officials won't say exactly what it was that caused the 1994 Naval Academy graduate to be fired. However, a spokesperson stated Wissel was being investigated for "inappropriate conduct." Read into that whatever you will.
The 40 year-old commanding officer of Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron 1 at the Naval Air Station, Whidbey Island, Wash. had led the unit since late April of last year.
END OF THE LINE FOR ACADEMY GRAD
Wissel has been transferred to other duties, a source said. It's safe to say his career is over.
He had been C.O. for less than a year. Prior to that, Wissel was XO of the EP-3 outfit.
CMDR Wissel was an experienced pilot, with more than 2700 hours in EP-3E and P3a/b/c/ aircraft. |
