AIR FORCE OFFICER'S CONVICTION REVERSED
IN SURPRISE DECISION BY CONVENING AUTHORITY
LT COL JAMES WILKERSON RELEASED FROM JAIL

I.G. AND F-16 PILOT FINALLY GETS JUSTICE
WAS VICTIM OF YET ANOTHER "SHE SAID/HE SAID"
NO EVIDENCE OR PROOF OF ACCUSATION

No matter what we write on this incredible development, some readers will raise hell with us. Well, we don't care. Let the PC-crowd and "man-haters" froth at the mouth. "She said/he said" cases have always concerned us, because while a majority of them are true, some are not, and MilitaryCorruption.com doesn't think anyone's life or career should be sacrificed on the evil altar of "political correctness."
Lt. Col. James Wilkerson is now a free man, and we congratulate, not condemn, Lt. Gen. Craig Franklin for looking at all the facts in the case and over-turning a flawed court-martial conviction where documentation of the accuser's problems with telling the truth was not allowed to be shown to the jury.
"After careful deliberation," Franklin wrote in his statement, "I have concluded the entire body of evidence was insufficient to meet the burden of proof beyond a reasonable doubt."
CRITICS WILL CITE FIGHTER-PILOT CONNECTION
There are those who will try and push the proposition that Gen. Franklin's brave decision was because he and Wilkerson are fighter-pilots, that a poor female victim was denied justice because of those mean, chauvinistic "Barstoolers." That's BS!
We have no love for senior officers, and you can be sure if a light colonel was guilty, we'd be first in line with the rope, but in this case we feel if defense attorney Frank Spinner had been allowed by the military judge to present what he had on the accuser's veracity, or lack of same, the result might have been different.
Please read the related story box below for a more detailed account, but for those new to this case, Jim Wilkerson had his world turned upside down when he and his wife allowed a female at one of their parties - his home was outside the Aviano, Italy base - to stay over for the night.
Whether this woman, a civilian physician's assistant, was inebriated at the time, we probably will never know. But Wilkerson's wife testified that the "guest' became loud in the night, and when asked to quiet down or leave, bailed out, leaving her shoes behind.
CHARGES NOT BACKED UP WITH ANY PHYSICAL EVIDENCE
Soon the "victim" was filing a sexual assault complaint with the OSI, always eager to bust someone, especially Wilkerson, who was a former inspector general at Aviano AFB.
The woman claimed Wilkerson had crawled into bed with her and fondled her breasts. Mrs. Wilkerson disputed that, saying her husband never left his bed and was innocent of any wrong-doing.
Without any witnesses or DNA proof or anything other than "she said/he said," the jury - denied access to all information about the accuser's past regarding "truthfulness" - convicted Wilkerson and he was dismissed from the Air Force, lost his pension and benefits, and was locked up on a one year jail sentence at the Charleston, S.C. Naval Brig.
BIG DEFEAT FOR THE P.C, "MAN-HATER" CROWD
Now the super-aggressive JAG prosecutors and PC-correct journalists can wipe egg off their face.
We have had plenty to be critical about with STARS & STRIPES alleged biased reporting, especially in the case of Jill Metzger-Mayo. But if you want to have a real howl, read what Nancy Montgomery - no friend of this web site - wrote about Wilkerson and see if it takes you very long to figure out whether she's disappointed or not at the colonel's conviction being overturned.
Welcome back to the Air Force, Jim Wilkerson. You dodged a PC-bullet aimed right at your head.
