RADM DAVID PIMPOHe should have known better, and now his greed and bad judgment has come back to bite him.

Former Rear Admiral David Pimpo has been reduced in rank to four-striper captain and forced to retire. He is a 1986 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis.

The one-time flag officer is the latest senior officer caught up in one of the worst scandals in U.S. Naval history.

Dear reader, if you don't know who "Fat Leonard" is, you must not be a regular here at MilitaryCorruption.com. We've been writing about this case for months now. We suggest you take a little time and get up to speed on the case by carefully reading our related stories box below.

" FEAST" COST PIMPO FLAG RANK

What cost Pimpo his star, was the fact he accepted a $800 luxury dinner at a fancy, high-end Hong Kong restaurant for a measly fifty bucks. That's right, the admiral enjoyed a seven-course repast fit for a king and paid next to nothing for the feast.

Navy Secretary Ray Mabus was not amused.

In a letter to the disgraced senior officer, Mabus chastened Pimpo for claiming he didn't know the difference between a fifty dollar dinner and a spread fit for a king.

"As a supply officer with 20 years of service (as of 2006), you know, or should have known, that $50 per person was not the true market value of such a sumptuous meal.

He may not have known then, although we doubt it, but one thing is for sure. David Pimpo realizes how much lighter his wallet will be after seeing his retirement rank knocked down a notch.
