COLONEL FROM CARLISLE BARRACKS HIT
© 2014 MilitaryCorruption.com
The former director of the DA Support Branch for Strategic Studies at Carlisle Barracks has been hit with a federal indictment. The U.S. Attorney's Office in Harrisburg says the senior officer engaged in downloading and distributing child porn.
Already facing state sex charges for allegedly ogling the perverted images on his laptop computer, Robert J. Rice now could get up to 30 years in prison if convicted.
His estranged wife, Marilyn, turned him in to the cops. She claims the colonel confessed to her he was a sex addict and told her he "needed help." The couple are in the midst of a bitter divorce.
One of her more sensational charges is she allegedly discovered nude pix of the senior officer sent to Craigslist in order to hook up with a "male" sexual partner.
DEFENSE ATTORNEY SAYS BITTER WIFE
In a unique twist to the bizarre case, Rice's attorney, Joseph Caraciolo, claims his client is innocent and the victim of an elaborate plot by the young, foxy spouse to shake more money out of the colonel in divorce proceedings.
COL Rice, once quite pudgy for an active-duty officer, even an 0-6, has slimmed down considerably in the past year since his troubles began. He has maintained his innocence throughout the ordeal.
The 56 year-old bird colonel came to Carlisle Barracks in 2010.
Rice entered the Army in 1985 as an artillery officer. He was one of the "inner circle" of powerful senior officers at once-respected Carlisle Barracks until his alleged sex problems hit the headlines.
