FORT BRAGG, N.C. — Earlier this week, the military judge in the Bowe Bergdahl sentence hearing said, while he was “disturbed and troubled” by Donald Trump’s fire-breathing campaign rhetoric about the admitted Army deserter – “He’s a no-good traitor,” etc. – the judge  declared hecould still render a “fair an objective” decision in the highly-charged case.

Why?  “Because,” COL Jeffrey Nance said, “Those comments were made while the President was still a candidate and not yet elected.”  Makes sense.  But an ad lib remark uttered by Donald Trump recently – “I cannot comment . . . but I think people have heard my comments (on this) in the past” has given Bergdahl’s attorneys a slight but potentially dangerous opportunity to throw a “Hail Mary pass.”

A LAST-MINUTE TWIST IN CASE

Nance has said he will take this latest motion to dismiss the case “under consideration.”  This has to have the Trump-haters at CNN and MSNBC/DNC ecstatic. If the judge rules Trump’s latest remark constitutes “undue command influence,” the result would be chaos.  It is possible the sentence could be overturned on appeal.

This could help “preserve” Barack Hussein Obama’s “legacy.”  And his media worshipers would get a “two-fer” if they could torpedo Bergdahl being punished and at the same time, have a new club to beat Trump over the head with.

We can’t conceive of Nance doing this, in the face of the facts that show dirt-bag Bowe needs to go away for a very long time.  But even that possibility – a tossed case – no matter how unlikely it is, would set off a firestorm of protest in the U.S. Army and among the non-leftist public that we’ve never seen before.
