He was attending a conference in San Diego when the cops came to get him.

Navy CMDR John Neuhart has been arrested on felony rape charges. The NCIS has been notified and the commanding officer of Guam-based Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25 has been replaced. The squadron’s executive officer William Eastham is the new commander.

A 16-year Navy veteran, Neuhart is scheduled to be arraigned today.MiitaryCorruption.com will be there and follow up on what happens in this case. Remember, Neuhart is innocent until proven guilty, so we are not about to get out the rope yet.

Obviously, this is a black eye for the Navy. Any time a senior officer – and Neuhart is one stripe below the rank of a Navy captain – gets in a mess like this, the repercussions extend all the way to the top. It’s a 30 year-rap if you’re in the military and convicted of rape.

THE DEVIL IS IN THE DETAILS

There are few details out there of who the alleged “victim” is. We don’t know, at this moment, if she is a civilian or military member, but it would seem to us, if the San Diego Police
grabbed Neuhart up, and not NCIS, then this case has a civilian component. As we find out more, we’ll let you know.

The 39 year-old officer was released on bail Monday night.

With more than 2000 hours in the air as a chopper pilot, the three-striper, whose call sign is SPIKE, is one of the Navy’s more experienced helicopter commanders. Neuhart served in Iraq and as far as we know, has never been in trouble before. What do you think, dear reader? Let us know, especially if you have any information on him or his accuser that you think would be of interest to us. Thank you.
