The greats of "The Long Grey Line" must be spinning in their graves. What has happened to the hallowed halls of West Point, where giants such as Pershing, Patton, Eisenhower and Douglas MacArthur once walked? The words "duty, honor, country" seem to have given way to quotas and social engineering.

What kind of future leader and Army officer gets zonked on drugs and even distributes the poison at the once-respected United States Military Academy? Have we fallen so low in this country that we scrape the bottom of the barrel to maintain some ideal of "political correctness?"

It's about time West Point raised the requirements for admission to a level where we weed out those with such poor moral character. Ways must be found to separate the lowlifes who use West Point for a free education from those willing to shoulder the sacrifice and responsibility required.

MORE TO COME SOON

Our readers will recall (see Related Stories Box below), six cadets were hit with drug charges and placed on administrative leave last November. Now, USMA Superintendent LT. GEN Robert Caslen, has referred two of these punks to a general courts-martial.

Christopher Monge of Coplay, Pa. and Tevin Long of Richmond, Tex. will be arraigned soon before a military judge. No trial date has been set. They are alleged to have travelled off the academy - to nearby Newburgh, N.Y. and also New Jersey and Pennsylvania - to buy cocaine and other drugs for personal use and sale to fellow cadets.

The four remaining men placed on administrative leave are still waiting to find out what their fate will be.

Former football player and member of Class of 2017, Ammon Tuimaunei, is the latest name added to the list of possible drug offenders. An active cadet at the moment, he is being investigated for sale and possession of cocaine and oxycodone.

They have all been placed on administrative leave.

Their fate will be determined by USMA Superintendent, LT GEN Robert Caslen. He declined to comment to the media because of his position at West Point and involvement in the case.

[EDITOR'S NOTE: -- Be watching for a special report we are doing soon on the drug epidemic at West Point plus the story of Army CAPT Saleem Sharif. A West Point graduate, this creep became a big-time drug smuggler and is now doing hard time behind bars.]
