Waste, fraud and abuse is nothing new to the profligate spenders at the Pentagon. But even we were shocked to see, in a just-released report by the Inspector General’s office, where we taxpayers were ripped off to the tune of some $16 million. And the item that was overpaid for – women’s breast pumps!
We’ve heard of $900 hammers, $7600 coffee makers, a $2228 monkey wrench and $640 toilet seats, but this is ridiculous. According to the I.G., as much as $1400 was shelled out for a regular-priced $192 pump.
The Defense Health Agency didn’t just waste money on the pumps themselves. There’s bottles to hold the milk and tubing. According to investigators, while pumps were overpaid by 91 per cent, the accessory items cost Uncle Sam more than half again what they were actually worth.
We can say without any doubt that America can WASTE MONEY better than any other country in the world. And the Pentagon is leading the effort to keep us in the #1 position.
