The executive director of a Louisiana-based non-profit that represents the interests of active duty military personnel and veterans is asking the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee to advance the nomination of Robert L. Wilkie Jr. as Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs.

In a letter to Sen. Johnny Isakson, chairman of the committee, CDR John “Bulldog” Wells (USN Ret.) of Military Veterans Advocacy wrote that the well-known and highly effective veterans’ rights organization is offering its “strongest support” for Mr. Wilkie.

“I am impressed with Wilkie’s ability to grasp the crux of a problem and formulate a solution,” Wells wrote. “His extensive government experience will help him deal with the bureaucratic behemoth that the VA has become. I believe he is best suited to control the operation of the Veterans Administration and will maximize the effectiveness of scarce financial resources.

“As you know, we (MVA) have attended Mr. Wilkie’s confirmation hearing. I was impressed with his prompt, but thoughtful responses to all questions. I am convinced that he can quickly and effectively fill the leadership void that has existed for several months. More important, I have confidence he can move the VA forward to become the organization that our veterans need and deserve.”

Wilkie was born in Frankfurt, Germany, and attended Salisbury Cathedral School, England and Fayetteville North Carolina’s Reid Ross Senior High School. As the son of an Army Artillery officer, he grew up in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. His father, Robert Leon Wilkie Sr. (1938–2017), retired from the U.S. Army as a lieutenant colonel. Robert Wilkie Jr. received his B.A. degree from the Wake Forest University in North Carolina.

He went on to receive his J.D. degree from Loyola University School of Law in New Orleans in 1988 and an LL.M. degree in International and Comparative Law from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C.

While management of the Veterans Administration is no easy task for any one human being, Military Corruption.com endorses Robert L. Wilkie Jr. for the position of Secretary of Veterans Affairs. Rarely, do we ever endorse anyone for any office, but we feel Robert L. Wilkie Jr. to be the very best man for the job as VA Secretary. We encourage all Senators to vote “aye” and confirm Robert L. Wilkie.

With the overwhelming amount of mail we receive from veterans around the world, the VA is still far from being cleaned up. There are people in the VA that have got to go. We have a man on our own staff that has been wrestling with the VA for 32 years over benefits issues. No organization knows better than we do about the state of affairs the VA is currently in.

Robert Wilkie is just the man to get in and apply some basic principles of accountability, with a focus on our veterans, not self-serving bureaucrats running the VA. He’ll remove employees that stare at the clock waiting for the end of their work day while needy veterans are ignored. He’ll ferret out employees that surf the internet all day looking for a better porn site while our senior veterans languish waiting to see a doctor.

We strongly encourage the Senate to confirm Wilkie and let him get to work cleaning up the VA immediately. Robert L. Wilkie Jr. has our highest recommendation for Secretary of the Veterans Administration.
